Bunny Sighting!

Bunny sighting! Just found a pretty big bunny in our front yard. Bunnies may be cute, but we're more concerned about our vegetables being devoured by them. You'd better not be seen by Kona, either. He will chase you down! Just stay away from our vegetable garden, you hear?

Soba Noodle Salad with Pollock Roe

Cold noodles for the summer? Anyone? I tell myself that soba is better than pasta, I hope so. Nothing like slurping cold noodles on a hot summer day.

Mix them up and slurp!

Soba Noodle Salad with Pollock Roe

1 cup cooked soba noodles, chilled
2 Tbsp julienned cucumber
1 piece cured pollock roe or cod roe, scraped off the casing
1 package natto
3 Tbsp soba noodle dipping sauce

Pollock roe
It comes packed in nicely like this.

Cook soba noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and chill in the fridge while preparing for the condiments. Julienne slices of cucumber, set aside. Thaw one piece of cured cod roe. It only takes a few minutes to thaw. Scrape the roe out of the casing with a back of a knife. On a plate, place noodles, cucumber and natto and top it off with cod roe. Drizzle noodle dipping sauce.

With cucumber...
Thawing pollock roe...

Thirsty Hummingbird

We have a hummingbird feeder hung in the front porch. We could see them fly by quite frequently from our living room. It's not quite summer yet, but these birds are thirsty!

See you in 2 minutes!

Happy birdwatching!
