Sapporo's Good Eats (3)

I can't stress enough how good the street foods are in Sapporo. Cheap and delicious. If you get a chance to go to Sapporo, hit the streets. You can see and learn the culture through their food.

Many restaurants to choose from on Ramen Noodle Alley.
Miso ramen is famous in Sapporo.

Genghiskhan is a local BBQ created in Hokkaido using the lamb raised there. You cook the meat yourself on the special skillet in front of you, which is part of the fun of this delectable dining experience. There is something to be said about sharing food out of the same pot: it brings people closer.

Using a special Genghiskhan skillet to drain off excess fat.
Get cooking if you wanna eat!

What would my LAST meal be? I would have to say soba noodles. To me, soba represents what I love about Japanese cuisine: it's humble, subtle, simple, honest and deep. This restaurant, Shino-ya, serves elegant soba noodles. Just look at these beautiful noodles! The broth has such depth of flavor. It's a top notch.

Soba noodles and warm dipping soup with duck meat.
Beautiful alabaster-colored noodles.
Inside Shino-ya. You can see out a beautiful Japanese garden.
Thank you, Dad and Mom, for treating us!
